Family Systems Therapy
Given the importance of the addressing and understanding today's social environment, we also offer family counseling. Families or individuals in a family learn better ways to resolve issues and interact with each other. If your family feels like it is being torn apart, family therapy may be what you and your family need.Family therapy is often short term. All family members may be include or only those that are able and willing to participate. The plan for treatment will be determined by your family's situation. Family therapy is based on the concept that the family is an individual social system, unique with its own styles of communication and structure . Communication styles are developed by many determinants , including the family members personalities, the parents' values and beliefs , and the significance of extended family (uncles, aunts, & grandparents). As a result, each family develops its own individual personality, which affects all of its members, based on these factors.
Some clients choose family therapy as a first choice, or later, family sessions may be introduced after individual, teen & adolescent, or couples counseling. Aileen can assist large or small families, to address conflict between family members.
