Teen Therapy (Adolescents)
Considerate of the distinctive needs of adolescent clients, Aileen offers therapy services designed specifically to help teens.
Many adolescents attempt to differentiate from their families and define their own identity. These attempts often leave teens feeling somewhat confused, feeling lost, and generally overwhelmed. Some teens develop anxiety or depression, while other may act out.
Given that younger clients frequently have difficulty putting their feelings into words, teens and adolescents require therapists who understand and specialize in their developmental and emotional needs. Therapy provides them a nurturing and safe environment to help them process their feelings, and encourage them to find solutions. In therapy, they will develop better coping skills and learn to process and express emotions and feelings.
Adolescent therapy can take a variety of forms. Often teen clients will employ traditional "talk therapy", but specific techniques may be utilized to assist in creating an easier way for a teen to communicate with the therapist. In addition, Aileen will typically work in association with the parents of the teen, obtaining relevant information and determining possible behavioral interventions at home. If additional services are needed, such as specialized evaluations, or medication appropriate referrals can be presented.
